About The Talk Project
The TALK Project is a Women Against Gun Violence (WAGV) program that empowers parents and caretakers to talk about safe gun storage with their family, friends, and neighbors.
For more than 25 years, WAGV has mobilized local, state and national communities to take decisive action against the dangers of firearms. Together, gun violence survivors and the fearless women and men of our Board of Directors advocate for meaningful gun regulations and educate the public and our policymakers about the human, financial and public health consequences of America’s gun violence epidemic.
One of our core programs is The TALK Project, a parent and caretaker empowerment program.
The TALK Project puts life-saving information in the hands of families. Brochures are available in English, Spanish, Korean and Armenian, and posters are available in English and Spanish. These materials can empower parents and caregivers with the confidence to talk with their children about guns. And most importantly, with their friends, neighbors, and family about guns and safe gun storage. Free gun locks are also distributed upon request.
Programs like this work!
The evidence is clear and substantial. Public education campaigns, such as those for seat belt use and anti-smoking, resulted in significant behavioral change. It is our belief that The Talk Project will produce the same life-saving results.
